Angel Eyes Episode 1 Recap

Wasn’t planning on trying this drama but on a whim checked out episode 1 of Angel Eyes.

Episode starts with the back story of how she (Soo Wan) loses her sight and her mother (they were driving through the tunnel) and how he (Dong Joo) loses his father (died trying to save her mother) due to a tunnel ceiling collapse. The car accident and tunnel accident were filmed well.

Present day, Dong Joo delivers porridge each morning, mooning over her as she practices her star presentation she gives daily at the planetarium. Dong Joo doesn’t realize she’s blind until he saves her from an oncoming truck. Dong Joo becomes her friend, teaching her to ride a bike, watching movies together, and eventually they mutually agree to be girlfriend and boyfriend. His joy when she kissed him and agreed to be his girlfriend was sweet.  I liked how he could show how happy he was being around her but she couldn’t see it. This couple has a cute factor.

This is a setup episode with the younger actors who did a decent job. He was so kind and solicitous it was a bit much, but firmly established his interest in her. It was odd she didn’t sense him watching her or being as close as he was on several occasions. His Mom and sister are fun and cute. Her Dad is daughter-phobic and avoids her like the plague because he doesn’t want to be reminded of his former wife and the life they shared. No wonder Dong Joo and his family are appealing to her, she’s alone and needs love and family in her life.
