My Thoughts — Strongest Deliveryman— Episode 14
Nutshell Summary:
Lee Dan Ah (Chae Soo Bin) urges Kang Soo not to give up fighting for the mom n pop eateries and his company’s, Strongest Deliveryman, success. She wants to believe the nice guy can win in a country where the rich get richer. She declares her love to Choi Kang Soo (Go Kyung Pyo) rendering him speechless. Interestingly, he does return the declaration. Instead he hugs her and vows to beat the odds.
Kang Soo and Dan Ah convince the building owners to skip a month’s rent payment for the mom n pop eateries. He urges them to overlook the greed of a single rent payment for long term payments from healthy mom n pop eateries.
Kang Soo goes to an alternative bank to secure loans to allow the mom n pop eateries to repay their primary loans being forced due by pressure from the food conglomerate.
Lee Ji Yoon (Go Won Hee) takes the role of breadwinner while Oh Jin Gyu (Kim Sun Ho) is the stay at home wife. He adorably cooks her lunch and dinner.
Ji Yoon manages to keep her father from realizing she has Jin Gyu hiding in the bathroom when he surprises her with a visit to her apartment.
Ji Yoon declares that he needs to get a job too. She goes to Kang Soo and asks him to recruit Ji Gyu. Kang Soo agrees Jin Gyu is a great addition to the team. Kang Soo freely admits he’s been using Jin Gyu’s recommended strategies.
Kang Soo’s plan is to mimic the food conglomerate’s tactics. He urges the mom n pop eateries to match prices. He secures fresh local produce.
Chef Jang Dong Soo (Jo Hee Bong) and prickly Soon Ae (Lee Min Young) are stunned to run into Soon Ae’s ex-husband, who also happens to be Ji Yoon’s mother’s banker. Soon Ae is both angry and upset. Dong Soo has to let her deal with the flood of emotions by herself.
Dan Ah’s roomate’s second job of karaoke singer is discovered. Dan Ah literally drags her out of the karaoke bar. But she declares she’ll need more money once Dan Ah emigrates leaving her behind.
The strategies start to work. Ji Yoon’s mother isn’t pleased to see the dip in sales from her food conglomerate eateries centered in a single building. She tells Kang Soo she has the deep pockets to win in the long run.
Both compete for the food service provider for a larger company. Luckily the employees vote so the it should be more of a fair competition than if the executives made the choice.
The Strongest Deliverymen team courts the employees with the allure of home cooked food from the mom n pop eateries delivered by a caring and courteous team.
The employees vote for the food service provider. The Strongest Deliveryman team and Food Conglomerate team gathers. Who will win the coveted contract?
My Thoughts
Kang Soo’s strategies to compete with the food conglomerate operated by the Ji Yoon’s mother began to work. Writer Lee Jung Woo had Kang Soo convince the building owners that if the mom n pop eateries folded, they would have no rent payments. Kang Soo undoubtedly put his own money into the business to keep it operating. I loved how the loan officer convinced his boss to agree to the favorable loan rates for the mom n pop eateries by saying Kang Soo was the nicest guy ever.
Choi Kang Soo (Go Kyung Pyo) committed his heart and personal finances to allow the mom n pop eateries to sustain themselves while they battle the food conglomerate. I was surprised that Kang Soo did not echo Dan Ah’s declaration of love. He seemed like the more emotionally involved of the pair. Not a peep from his estranged mother or half-brother his episode. Only 2 more episodes to resolve this and let Dan Ah know about this secret. It was good to see Kang Soo’s team be able to compete for the business’s food service contract by being nice. That’s their strong suit.
Lee Dan Ah (Chae Soo Bin) stood by her man. She supports him without a doubt. She couldn’t really fault her roomate’s desire to amass more cash to be able to survive when she emigrates. She has spent many years amassing cash for the move. Kang Soo’s advice to let her roomate find her own way back was solid. Dan Ah can’t decide the path for her roomate, but she can support her.
Lee Ji Yoon (Go Won Hee) is darling in her dealings with Jin Gyu. When will she and Jin Gyu migrate to romance?
Oh Jin Gyu (Kim Sun Ho) joined forces with Kang Soo when Ji Yoon secured him a job. Jin Gyu was gracious when he told his former second in command that using his ideas was okay. I like the pairing of Jin Gyu and Kang Soo in business. I want Jin Gyu to cast a romantic eye to Jin Yoon. He’s only got 2 more episodes to do so.
Ranking the episodes (on a scale from 1-10) had me rank this episode as very good. My episode ranking chart is below.
The ninth song of the OST “Look at Me” is sung by Merry Round. Check it out:
I wondered if Kang Soo’s lack of a 💓 declaration is due to the fact that he haven’t succeeded yet. After all, Dan Ah previously asked Kang Soo to succeed to make her stay in Hell 🔥 Joseon.
I’m liking Ji Yoon an Jin Gyu more and more. OMO, the barrier Jin Gyu made and then Ji Yoon messing around with the DMZ had me laughing 😝 my butt off! Is Ji Yoon’s dad really in the dark about Ji Yoon living with Jin Gyu? Are his ‘spies’ truly keeping him in the dark? Her mother is going to have a cow 🐄 ✳MOO🐮✳ when she finds out!
As you mentioned we only have 2 episodes to achieve resolution for couples Kang Soo/Dan Ah and Ji Yoon/Jin Gyu to iron out their relationships 😍, Food Row vs. Jung Family Foods and Kang Soo’s mother/half brother issues. That’s a lot of drama for two episodes.

I don’t like coupling his success with a declaration of love. These are independent from each other.

I agree but it almost seems like what is happening.
