Would I Want My Brother to Date Her? Tell Me What You Saw – Ha Young

Would I Want My Brother to Date Her? Tell Me What You Saw

Is a female character worthy to date someone I care about such as my brother? For this installment of Would I Want My Brother to Date Her? I reflect upon the second of the two female leads from the series Tell Me What You Saw.

Our candidate. Team Lead Hwang Ha Young, portrayed by Jin Seo Yeon, leads a team of police officers that hunt a serial killer and other nefarious criminals.

Background. As a detective Ha Young worked with team’s genius profiler and introduced him to her best friend and romance ensued. But when her best friend was killed while trapped in a car that exploded before Ha Young’s eyes, her world changed. She has a secret and it colors her actions.

Her pluses:
BAD ASS. Ha Young is direct and is unimpressed with the soft and selfish individuals in the police management chain. She can take down most criminals with her impressive fighting skills. Her punch packs heat.

LEADER. Ha Young is an excellent leader for the team of detectives of RIU Team #1. The four detectives under her respect and follow her orders without hesitation. As good leaders do, she values their abilities and contributions.

Her minuses:
SECRET GOAL BEFORE OTHERS. Ha Young’s secret drives her to find a serial killer at all costs. She was willing to align with less than honorable manager, betray a friend, all to right a wrong she believed she perpetrated.

Would I Want Her to Date my Brother?
👎No. Ha Young was on the road to healing as the series ends. But she has scars and emotional baggage that would make it hard for her be open about her past so a future could be built with another man.

This one is hard. I agree with kjt except I respect this character and sympathize with what she’s gone through and I want her to have a strong stable man in her love live who can respect her leadership qualities and her competence and yet be gentle for her fragile, hurt inner self.

But what’s hard is I don’t have a brother so, if my theoretical brother was weak and not emotionally strong himself, then no, I wouldn’t want him to date or marry someone like Team Leader BUT if he were awesome and strong, I’d be rooting for them.

This one was hard. You perfectly articulated what I hope for her. I loved her vow to live life at the end of the series. I believe she’ll work at it. It will be baby steps until she’s ready to share herself with a kind hearted independent man.

I concur with you KJT … too much emotional baggage 🧳.
Ha Young needs several bellhops to rangle her emotional baggage 🧳 to a therapist. Once she becomes emotionally healthy I might consider introducing her to my brother.
