Would I Want My Brother to Date Her? Melting Me Softly
Is a female character worthy to date someone I care about such as my brother? For this installment of Would I Want My Brother to Date Her? I reflect upon the lead female from the series Melting Me Softly.
Our candidate: Go Mi Ran, portrayed by Won Jin Ah, agrees to be a test subject for a cryogenic experiment that goes wrong and she ends up frozen for 20 years not 24 hours!
Background. Mi Ran was a young woman attending college when she agreed to the cryogenic experiment in hopes that one day it could help those with challenges, like her sweet brother. When she woke, her long suffering family were thrilled. Her friends couldn’t believe their eyes and eventually they gelled again. Mi Ran’s ex-boyfriend believed they would reunite again, though he was sorely mistaken. But Mi Ran had physical challenges, keeping her temperature below a certain level and not overexerting herself. She found a kinship with fellow test subject Dong Chang. That kinship turned to romance as they battled the challenges and ripple effects from the experiment.
Her pluses:
RESILIENT. Mi Ran physically coped better than Dong Chang when they first were unfrozen. Mi Ran dealt with the new technology better too. In general integrating after a 20 year time jump, was easier for her. Mi Ran’s family and friends were a source of love and acceptance allowing her to deal with her new reality from a position of emotional support.
TOLD IT LIKE IT WAS. Upon learning that the network executives buried the cryogenic experiment report, Mi Ran chewed them out and demanded a cash settlement. When her ex-boyfriend wanted her back, she told him in no uncertain terms no.
LOYAL. Mi Ran stuck by her family, and they did the same for her. Her interactions with her younger brother were sweet and often touching. She won the family lottery. When she got involved with Dong Chan, she was a staunch supporter.
Her minuses:
ACQUIESCED. Mi Ran’s love interest was a traditional “do as I say” man. Before they got together she had more spunk. After they got together, she acquiesced to his requests more and more.
Would I Want Her to Date my Brother?
👍 Mi Ran is spirited, loyal, believes in family, and positive. Who wouldn’t want someone like that to date their brother?
The fact that she would risk her life in hopes of a better life for her donsaeng makes her awesome on my book.

I concur that Mi Ran’s 🌬❄ love of her brother, Nam Tae 🍭🙋♂️, alone made her an pretty awesome candidate to date my brother.
I 💗 Mi Ran’s 🌬❄ spunk and think my brother would appreciate her upfront honesty in lieu of playing games. I’m ready to introduce her to my brother❣
