Missing My Man…Rain
I’m missing Rain and looking forward to his new series Welcome 2 Life which begins August 5. But that’s 2 weeks away.
What do you do when you miss your guy?
- If he’s an actor you watch or rewatch a series, movie, etc. to get a dose.
- If he’s an actor and a singer, you can get your fix from a music video.
“The Best Present”…I’ve been watching (and rewatching) this 2017 video.
What I love about this video:
- Rain in all black – he has a muscular body different from most slender stars
- Rain in all white – yummy
- Rain in a fedora – his owns that hat
- Rain dancing solo – smooth moves
- Rain dancing with others – they compliment him well
- Rain teasing his abs – he does quick shirt lifts to reveal his rocking abs
- Rain’s twinkle and smile at the very end of the video (4 minute mark) – he tilts his hat, looks into the camera, smiles and walks off. Here’s the smile and stare gif…

“The Best Present” is a collaborative track between Rain and Psy, of “Gangnam Style” fame, and is a smooth ballad. The music video features Rain doing what he does best: emulating Michael Jackson in a fedora and one gloved hand while performing sleek choreography…the song is about his longtime girlfriend, actress Kim Tae Hee.

As many times as I’ve watched this video, watching it this time, unlike the writer in the article who compared Rain to MJ, it reminded me of Bob Fosse’s style.

I looked on youtube and found a video with clips of Bob Fosse’s dancing. I thought the clip at the 42 second mark (video is cued) showed his solo brilliance and spoke to Rain’s dancing in The Best Present. Bob Fosse’s hand extensions, footwork, and “effortless” skills are evident throughout all the clips.
