Romance is a Bonus Book Episode 14
Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk) gets a text from Hae Rin that Dan Yi resigned.
Here’s what happened…When Kang Dan Yi (Lee Na Young) arrived at work that morning, she noticed that no one was engaging her like normal. When she stepped away she overhead everyone talking about treating her the same. Dan Yi realized everyone knew that she falsified her application and that she might be terminated.
Director Ko Yoo Sun (Kim Yu Mi) is livid when she learns an employee didn’t do execute as expected. The employee blames Dan Yi stating she was the one that dropped the ball. Dan Yi protests that she wasn’t given the task. It is clear no one believes her. Dan Yi decides she’s no longer value add if she’s making mistakes and not remembering it.
Eun Ho arrives at the publishing company. Song Hae Rin (Jung Eugene) tells him that Dan Yi is at the bus stop. Eun Ho finds Dan Yi. He’s supportive and kind.
Park Hoon (Kang Ki Doong) ends up sleeping at a sauna each night while Oh Ji Yool (Park Gyu Young) sleeps in his bed. He can’t believe he’s the one leaving his apartment. Ji Yool’s mother smiles believing her daughter will return home soon, she can’t survive without the generous allowance.
Eun Ho and Dan Yi read a book together while laying in bed. Eun Ho feels a sexual draw to Dan Yi. He beats a hasty retreat to his own bed.
The next day Eun Ho takes the day off work. He and Dan Yi read, cuddle, and enjoy a relaxed day together.
Executive Kim Jae Min (Kim Tae Woo) sews a button on Director Ko’s shirt.
Ji Seo Joon (Wi Ha Joon) takes Writer Kang’s last manuscript, puts it in an envelope and addresses it to the publishing house. He mails the envelope. He shred everything he has about Writer Kang. When he goes to the recycle bin with the shredded documents he finds Hae Rin. He isn’t happy to see her. She offers to tell him details why she was upset the other night.
Hae Rin and Seo Joon end up drinking together once she reveals Dan Yi and Eun Ho are a couple. The morning Seo Joon finds Hae Rin piecing together parts of the shredded documents. She wonders why he’s interested in Writer Kang. She wonders why he has a locked room in his apartment.
Director Ko meets with Dan Yi. She provides a business card of a small publishing company that will hire her. Dan Yi is grateful.
That night Eun Ho gathers his courage and suggests the time has come for he and Dan Yi to get physical. She agrees.
Dan Yi’s worklife at the new publishing company isn’t ideal. She ends up doing their son’s homework, fending off disgruntled unpaid contractors, etc.
Everyone misses Dan Yi and realize how much she did for them.
Park Hoon is impressed when he comes home during the day and finds a note from Ji Yool that she’s working. He reviews her budget and plan to become a better employee. He’s impressed.
i Yool reviews manuscript that readers sent to them. Her eyes open wide when she reads Writer Kang’s missing manuscript. When Hae Rin arrives, Ji Yool shows her the missing manuscript that was sent anonymously.
Dan Yi tidies the attic. She finds the box of Writer Kang’s manuscripts. She read hand written notes by the writer. Dan Yi realizes that Eun Ho has been shielding Writer Kang. When Eun Ho arrives home, he finds Dan Yi in the attic going through the box. He realizes that he wanted her to find the box so he could share the secret he’s been keeping for so long. He knows Dan Yi won’t judge him.
Dan Yi gets a new job. Dan Yi left the publishing house after believing she might have missed an important assignment. I’m betting she didn’t and was wrongfully accused. The new publishing house wasn’t a dream job, but it was a job. Writer Jung finally turned the attention to the mystery of Seo Joon’s connection to Writer Kang and the burden of caring for Writer Kang that Eun Ho has been shouldering.
Kang Dan Yi (Lee Na Young) realized that her new publishing house had issues. Dan Yi wanted to stick it out at the old publishing house but it was uncomfortable having everyone know what she had done. That also made her a target for an employee that needed to off load blame for a missed assignment from herself to an unfairly accused Dan Yi. I liked that Dan Yi was willing to work with enthusiasm at the new publishing company. Unfortunately, the quality in the new company was lacking.
Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk) took it to the next level with Dan Yi. Eun Ho felt the heat between them and got up the courage to suggest they pursue the physical side of their relationship. Dan Yi agreed. Eun Ho was relieved when he found Dan Yi going through the box of items he had from Writer Kang. Finally he could share his burden with the woman he loved.
I rank this episode (on a scale from 1-10) as terrific. My rating chart is below:
The ninth song of the OST is titled “You’re Beautiful” sung by Will Bug:
OMO, Dan Yi 👠👩💼 overheard the co-workers gossiping about her, plus I was INCENSED when a worker blamed Dan Yi 👠👩💼 for her own incompetence❗‼️. … NOW I can see why Dan Yi 👠👩💼 quit and didn’t wait for the outcome of her impassioned plea to stay at the company. Was it bad for me to yell ✳️IN YOUR FACE✳️ at Dan Yi’s 👠👩💼 co-workers on my screen when they realized how much they missed her and all the work she did❓⁉️
LoL at the awkward moment when the CEO Kim tried to bite the thread off the top button he sewed on Director Ko’s 🐞💢 blouse. The thought of those two becoming a couple crossed my mind; it would be good for her, but he might be getting the short end of the stick. My opinion of Director Ko 🐞💢 raised a bit when she found a place for Dan Yi 👠👩💼 to work, even if it isn’t such a great job.
Seo Joon 🎨👨🎨 literally opened his door to Hye Rin 👙 to commiserate Eun Ho 🖋️👨💼 and Dan Yi 👠👩💼 being in a relationship. I found it curious that Seo Joon 🎨👨🎨 had writer Kang’s manuscript. They HAVE TO BE father and son. There’s only a couple of episodes left so that mystery should sort itself out in short order.
Eun Ho 🖋️👨💼 taking the day off and spending it with Dan Yi 👠👩💼 was the perfect way the assuage her disappointment and pace the pave to deepen their relationship 💞. Eun Ho 🖋️👨💼 feeling relieved that Dan Yi 👠👩💼 found out about about his deepest, darkest secret: that he is hiding writer Kang, evidences a very good place to be in a relationship 💞.
Was it bad for me to yell ✳️IN YOUR FACE✳️ at Dan Yi’s 👠👩💼 co-workers on my screen when they realized how much they missed her and all the work she did❓
No. I liked that they realized and acknowledged how much she did for them.
My opinion of Director Ko 🐞💢 raised a bit when she found a place for Dan Yi 👠👩💼 to work
Writer Jung has vacillated on Director Ko. I prefer the softer side versus stern and jealous.
There’s only a couple of episodes left so that mystery should sort itself out in short order.
Yes, this is another plot point where the pacing could have been better.

Agreed. He didn’t have to break his promise to Writer Kang but Dan Yi found out and can provide support.
