Romance is a Bonus Book Episode 12

Romance is a Bonus Book Episode 12

Mini Recap

As the author reads the book, Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk) holds hands with Kang Dan Yi (Lee Na Young) (others in the room can’t see).  Director Ko’s executive friend tells Director Ko Yoo Sun (Kim Yu Mi) that Dan Yi was once a big advertising success. Director Ko is shocked and realizes that Dan Yi lied on her resume. Song Hae Rin (Jung Eugene) watches Eun Ho look tenderly at Dan Yi. She realizes Eun Ho likes Dan Yi.

Dan Yi thanks the author when the book reading is done. Eun Ho offers to drive the author home. He eyes Dan Yi and mouths that he’ll see her at home. Dan Yi is over the moon with the success of the event. She calls Eun Ho and shares her joy. He meets her in the park. They are mutually thrilled. Yes, the tide has turned and Dan Yi now sees Eun Ho as a romantic possibility. Eun Ho is stoked the years of patience are paying dividends.

Seo Young A (Kim Sun Young)’s child gets sick and her ex-husband, Bon Ji Hong, dashes to the emergency room once he hears. Young A is clear when he suggests they get back together…they divorced after years of their relationship eroding and their child’s illness isn’t a whitewash to their issues.

After the event is over, Hae Rin invites Ji Seo Joon (Wi Ha Joon) to celebrate. He agrees. She proceeds to get drunk. But when she drinks cucumber infused alcohol she passes out. See Joon calls Eun Ho to help. Eun Ho gets the job of carrying Hae Rin to Seo Joon’s apartment. He stays overnight so propriety is maintained. Both men are horrified when they wake the next morning wrapped in each other’s arms. Hae Rin is covered in red spots from her allergic reaction.

Director Ko tells Eun Ho that Dan Yi lied on her resume. She sees the Eun Ho already knew. She orders him to fire her. Eun Ho watches work seamlessly attending to everyone’s requests. He sends Dan Yi’s resume to recruiter friend, hoping to provide her a soft landing.

After work Eun Ho invites Dan Yi to dinner…as a first date. They are both nervous and try to pick clothes that are effortlessly cool and don’t appear that they are trying to impress. Eun Ho tells Dan Yi he knows she likes him. She doesn’t demur. Eun Ho leans over Dan Yi in the car. She thinks he’ll kiss her and closes her eyes. Instead he smiles and puts her seat belt on.

Their dinner goes well. They enjoy a movie after dinner. Their longing looks, hand holding, the admission of feelings…yes…we have romance!

At home, Dan Yi mentions that Seo Joon’s contract revealed his birthday was 4/23. Eun Ho realizes 0423 is Seo Joon’s passcode.

Seo Joon enters the secret room in his apartment. The passcode is 0423.

Eun Ho looks at Writer Kan’s manuscript. He recalls the argument he and Seo Joon had about Writer Kang’s right to disappear. What is the secret?

My Thoughts

Finally…romance blooms. Dan Yi and Eun Ho move out of the friend zone and into romantic. I liked the easy slide Writer Jung penned for the friends to turn to romance. Last episode the pump was primed. This episode it flowed.

Kang Dan Yi (Lee Na Young) couldn’t deny her romantic feelings for Eun Ho. His support and hand holding during the book event meant much. Then Dan Yi openly shared her joy with him. He was happy for her and celebrated with her. She quickly agreed to the dinner date. Adorably she fused over her wardrobe. While dinner went well, it was the movie where Dan Yi finally internally and externally admitted she cared for Eun Ho more than a friend. I liked the production of that scene, the writing of feelings (appropriate for a book focused drama), the lingering glances, their smiles, their hand holding…that scene worked and made them a couple.

Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk) finally received reciprocal feelings from Dan Yi. Eun Ho made all the right moves this episode. He was sweet, supportive, and enticing. Dan Yi finally admitted she liked him. You could see the joy Eun Ho felt at the admission. The wait was over, his dream came true, Dan Yi wanted him romantically. Eun Ho also had to deal with Director Ko’s demand that he terminate Dan Yi’s contract. Eun Ho decided to delay responding to that request. The stage appears set…mystery of Seo Joon’s secret room, his opinions about Writer Kang, and his potential connection to Eun Ho is going to be addressed.

I rank this episode (on a scale from 1-10) as terrific. My rating chart is below

The seventh song of the OST is titled “Close I’ll be” by Kim Na Young:

We FINALLY got to see romance blossom between Dan Yi 👠👩‍💼 and Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼.

I’m not sure how I feel about Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼 putting Director Ko’s 🐞💢 demand to fire Dan Yi 👠👩‍💼 on the back burner. Does Director Ko 🐞💢 feel threatened by Dan Yi 👠👩‍💼 somehow❓⁉️ You would think Director Ko 🐞💢 would think she would be thrilled to have such a competent contract employee as Dan Yi 👠👩‍💼 ; is it Director Ko’s 🐞💢 pride❓⁉️

I continue to like the chemistry ⚗️ brewing between Hye Ri 👙 and Seo Joon 🎨👨‍🎨. I was 🎊surprised🎉 not much was said about Hye Ri 👙 staying at Seo Joon’s 🎨👨‍🎨 place.

Then we have the mystery about writer Kang, who entrusted Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼 to be his guardian and take of his literary works. Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼 doesn’t seem to be writer Kang’s son; why appoint him as guardian❓⁉️ Why is Seo Joon 🎨👨‍🎨 obsessed with writer Kang❓⁉️ Is Seo Joon 🎨👨‍🎨 writer Kang’s son❓⁉️ Writer Kang’s last book was named 0423, the date as Seo Joon’s 🎨👨‍🎨 birthday 🎂 … I’m just sayin’…

I kinda liked that he deferred her demand. He is a founding partner with equal power.

like the chemistry ⚗️ brewing between Hye Ri 👙 and Seo Joon 🎨👨‍🎨
      The possibility is there.

Then we have the mystery about writer Kang…
I look forward to the resolution of this mystery.

“he [Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼] deferred her [Director Ko’s 🐞💢] demand” I like that Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼 deferred the demand, I wanted Eun Ho 🖋️👨‍💼 to be forthcoming with Dan Yi 👠👩‍💼 as he wished Dan Yi 👠👩‍💼 had been with him about her divorce and struggles to find a job.
