Romance is a Bonus Book Episode 8
Ji Seo Joon (Wi Ha Joon) and Kang Dan Yi (Lee Na Young) agree to date for 3 months. Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk) is not excited about this. Irked by her teasing that he’s a grown into a man. He pins Dan Yi on the floor and stares into her eyes. He considers a kiss but pulls away. He tells her he is a man and a good one. Dan Yi watches Eun Ho stalk away startled to find her heart fluttering.
The next day Eun Ho tells Seo Joon that he won’t reveal that he doesn’t have an office to go to, per his declaration that he and Dan Yi would travel together to and from work. Seo Joon and Dan Yi share a song and a smile on the bus.
At the publishing house the hand-written manuscript from the writer our foursome had dinner with. Eun Ho volunteers to translate into electronic media if Dan Yi will assist. He declares they’ll do the work from his home as the work require concentration and quiet. Dan Yi agrees to help.
Seo Young A (Kim Sun Young) wants to go clubbing. She finally talks Dan Yi into joining her. It appears Director Ko Yoo Sun (Kim Yu Mi) wants to go but Young A doesn’t see the clues.
When Young A and Dan Yi are refused entry into the club by the doorman. The crowd stirs when a well-known clubber arrives and goes to the front of the line. It’s Director Ko! She tells the doorman that Young A and Dan Yi are with her. Director Ko stuns again when she turns out to be a captivating dancer.
The ladies return to Director Ko’s large, sloppy and lonely apartment. Young A shares that she and Bong Ji Hong (Jo Han Chul) divorced because he didn’t stand up for her and she was sick of it. Dan Yi admits she’s divorced and that her husband cheated on her. Director Ko brings forth her wedding photo and reveals she broke the engagement so she wouldn’t have to give up her career. All three women end up crying into their alcohol which they drink in copious amounts.
Ji Hong refuses to come to work and fishes alone. Executive Kim Jae Min (Kim Tae Woo) and Eun Ho visit Ji Hong at his favorite fishing haunt. Ji Hong admits he wasn’t a great husband and can’t blame Young A for calling it quits.
Eun Ho finds Dan Yi on his kitchen floor. At first, he worries she’s unconscious. He calls for an ambulance but Dan Yi’s snores make him cancel. He puts her to bed. The next morning Dan Yi has a heck of a hangover.
Dan Yi and Eun Ho work to transcribe the hand-written manuscript. At one-point Dan Yi closes her eyes and puts her head on Eun Ho’s shoulder. Eun Ho gently strokes her lips and face. He leans in for a kiss but a text from Seo Joon interrupts the moment.
Song Hae Rin (Jung Eugene) meets Seo Joon to persuade him to illustrate the writer’s book cover. Seo Joon texts Dan Yi for advice. He decides to follow her advice and agrees to the deal. It begins to snow. Hae Rin and Seo Joon watch the snow fall in peaceable silence.
Dan Yi and Eun Ho watch the snow fall in peaceable silence. Eun Ho doesn’t know that Dan Yi wasn’t asleep when he stroked her face and almost kissed her. She realizes her heart is beating fast at the memory. She wonders what is going on. Dan Yi asks Eun Ho if he likes her.
Secrets are shared. Young A tells Director Ko and Dan Yi why she divorced Ji Hong. Dan Yi shares that she too is divorced and why. Director Ko admits she ran away from love. Meanwhile Ji Hong shares with Executive Kim and Eun Ho why Young A divorced him. All these reveals allowed them to bond and feel empathy. Director Ko being revealed to be a standout clubber and dancer was amusing. We saw Seo Joon locked in his secret room that appeared to be filled with artifacts about Writer Kang (Eun Ho’s father – but no one but Executive Kim knows this). What is Seo Joon’s connection to Writer Kang? Are Seo Joon and Hae Rin a possible couple?
Kang Dan Yi (Lee Na Young) was stirred by Eun Ho. We’ve waited for her eyes to be opened to the possibility of seeing Eun Ho as a man. Writer Jung used Eun Ho’s frustration and tenderness to stir Dan Yi’s heart. She was startled to realize she felt a pull to her friend. When Eun Ho almost kissed her, Dan Yi realized he felt a pull toward her too. Does this finally take Eun Ho out of the friend zone?
Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk) almost kissed Dan Yi. Eun Ho couldn’t resist gently stroking Dan Yi’s face as she “slept” on his shoulder. He leaned in for a soft kiss but was interrupted by Seo Joon’s kiss. Frankly, I want their first kiss to have two participants. Eun Ho has languished in the friend zone. Is that over? The snow scene revealed Eun Ho admitting he cared for Dan Yi via a code phrase. Nice!
