2018 In Review – Leading Ladies – Best to Worst

Looking back at the leading ladies of the series I blogged in 2018, I decided to assign an empirical score. How did they rack and stack?

Lawless Lawyer Ha Jae Yi (Seo Ye Ji) 9.0
Sketch Yoo Shi Hyun (Lee Sun Bin) 9.0
Hwayugi Jin Sun Mi (Oh Yeon Seo) 8.5
Mr. Sunshine Go Ae Shin (Kim Tae Ri) 8.5
Mystery Queen 2 Yoo Seol Ok (Choi Kang Hee) 8.0
Bad Papa Yoo Young Sun (Shin Eun Soo) 8.0
Money Flower Na Mo Hyun (Park Se Young) 7.0
Wok of Love Sae Woo (Jung Ryeo Won) 7.0
Great Seducer Eun Tae Hee (Joy) 7.0
Criminal Minds Ha Sun Woo (Moon Chae Won) 6.0

What did I consider salient points about each leading lady?

Lawless Lawyer – Ha Jae Yi (Seo Ye Ji) – Smart, punched male jerks, good lawyer, comfortable with loving relationship, passionate, inner drive for justice

Sketch – Yoo Shi Hyun (Lee Sun Bin) –  “Gift” of sketching the future was taxing but she turned the experiences into drive for justice with an unwavering morale compass. Great partner, sister, she would joke and drink you under the table

Hwayugi – Jin Sun Mi (Oh Yeon Seo) –  “Gift” of seeing spirits and fated sacrifice role would have crippled most but she was survivor and found love along the way (though she rightly doubted its validity)

Mr. Sunshine – Go Ae Shin (Kim Tae Ri) – Most guy-like leading lady in that pursued her own path without letting the men in her life sway her, awesome shot and gutsy

Mystery Queen 2 – Yoo Seol Ok (Choi Kang Hee) – Smart, intuitive, female Sherlock Holmes that inserted herself in cases and never failed to figure out “who done it”

Bad Papa – Yoo Young Sun (Shin Eun Soo) – Best daughter/father relationship, determined, drive to give her all, loved both parents and didn’t play them against each other, snide in a fun way

Money Flower – Na Mo Hyun (Park Se Young) – Dutiful wife, took emotional punches and kept on ticking, smartly walked away from the man she loved because he wasn’t emotionally available

Wok of Love – Sae Woo (Jung Ryeo Won) – Perky, down on her luck rich woman that finds a new career and love, disliked her vacillating and unclearness with the second lead

Great Seducer – Eun Tae Hee (Joy) – Honest, normal girl with moxy that got involved with a manipulative trio and found the strength to walk away from love

Criminal Minds – Ha Sun Woo (Moon Chae Won) – Smart police officer, limited emotional depth, guarded

I 💗 the leading actress list too❣️ If I were looking at these entries for my brother to date, my order would be pretty much follow your ratings.

Ha Jae Yi (Seo Ye Ji) was the BEST female protagonist❣️ She had a great mix of independence, intelligence, moxy and a tender heart 💓. Go Ae Shin (Kim Tae Ri) had very similar characteristics, followed by Jin Sun Mi (Oh Yeon Seo) and Yoo Shi Hyun (Lee Sun Bin). I would love to be more like any of these 4 admirable characters, who wouldn’t want one of these characters as your sister-in-law❓⁉️

In my opinion, Moon Chae Won is absolutely gorgeous, but her lack of sincere emotions, leaves me finding her not appealing. I’ve seen 8 of her dramas was “The Princess’s Man” was the only one I thought she exhibited moxy, had chemistry ⚗️ with her leading man AND was neither a limp rag or a harpie.

Thanks 🙇‍♂️ KJT for these bonus features to mull 🤔 over the characters we invested ourselves in last year❣️

I enjoyed her too. I especially loved that there was real romance in the show (though the bracelet cast a shadow on that).

And this character didn’t need much depth because the entire Criminal Minds team was low key on the emotions.
