I’ve been out of pocket for a window of time. I had a friend that was diagnosed with advanced cancer. Things went downhill quickly. The focus was on palliative care, to relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. This person was important to me and I I elected to spend evenings bonding. Of course, my blogging was set aside during this time.
Sadly, my friend is now gone. I learned much about myself and my friend during this experience – loyalty, dignity, and being uniquely you.
I’d read that we either reflect on the past or look to the future, and can miss the present. The last weeks I challenged myself to focus on the moment. Whether it was listening to the leaves crunch as I walked across the parking lot, to holding my friend’s hand to offer comfort, I wanted to be there. Frankly I struggled but it was satisfying too.
Taking a break was the right thing to do. As I resume my daily patterns, I’ll pick up where I left off. I’ve missed blogging and look forward the second act of these shows.
Thanks for listening.

The recent kdramas seemed bland without your insightful comments. So sorry to hear about your dear friend. Take care of yourself. Remember you can’t drink from an empty cup. I await your recaps when you are ready.

Thanks for the update. So sorry to hear about your friend’s passing. My condolences to you. I’m glad you were able to spend that quality time together toward the end. Real life had me taking a break from dramas as well, so I certainly understand. I’ll look forward to your recaps when you are ready again to post.

So you know from your own experience that while dramas are awesome (and they are) it is doesn’t have the same priority as real life. Not a bad thing to be reminded about.

Very sorry to hear about your friend. You have my sincerest condolences. Can’t even imagine how difficult of an experience that must have been and I’m sure there are still difficult moments. Choosing to spend your time cherishing those final moments with your friend probably meant a lot to them. Of course, we are glad to see you back, but definitely take all the time you need and don’t feel pressured to post until you’re absolutely ready to. Take care.

Time with my friend also let me bond with other supportive friends. We traded off, to give each other breaks. Sounds strange to say, but there were positive moments. Appreciate the support.

Spending the time helped me to start to grieve in a supportive atmosphere with others that cared. My friend saw clearly that he was loved and mattered in our lives.

I knew you were slow on some of these, but I totally get it. You made the right choice, for you and your friend. I am sure that you being there (present) helped eased her mind. Love to you, and hope you are comforted knowing she is not in pain anymore.

No pain is a relief. Seeing him tired (of fighting and the slowing down of his body), knowing that he ready to let go, made the ending more bearable.

I’m so sorry for your loss and the challenging time you’ve went through. I just lost a close relative unexpectedly last month, and it’s not easy. I’m at least glad to hear you were able to spend time with your friend and build some memories to take with you. As always, dramas will wait for us. I will look forward to seeing you back though.

Well said Kay. Those memories are irreplaceable. While “time and tide wait for no man”, dramas wait for viewers.
