Is a female character worthy to date someone I care about such as my brother? For this installment of Would I Want My Brother to Date Her? I reflect upon the lead female from the series Lawless Lawyer.
Our candidate: Ha Jae Yi, portrayed by Seo Ye Ji, is lawyer with passion and ethics from Lawless Lawyer.
Background. Since her mother disappeared in her childhood Ha Jae Yi has relied on surrogate mother Judge Cha. What she doesn’t know is that Judge Cha’s actions created the circumstances for what befell her mother. Enter Lawyer Sang Pil who offers her the chance to save her father financially. During the course of the series Sang Pil opens Jae Yi’s eyes to the truth, becomes a love interest, and partners with her in the pursuit of justice.
Mean right hook. When Jae Yi decked a chauvinist judge, I knew Jae Yi was a girl I liked. And that wasn’t the only time she delivered a well deserved punch.
Smart. Jae Yi had to be creative to get Sang Pil out of charges. She took risks and it paid off.
Warm. Jae Yi had an adult relationship with Sang Pil based on affection and passion. The physical side of their relationship was a natural progression without any negative connotations.
Passion could override logic. Jae Yi could throw caution to the wind when seriously amped. She went to arch enemy O Joo when there were trust issues with Sang Pil. Picking a murdering, untrustworthy mobster over her partner and lover wasn’t the best option.
Would I Want Her to Date my Brother?
Jae Yi is a female character worthy of my brother’s consideration. She’s smart, attractive, with a sense of humor, passion and fair play. She could be an excellent partner to weather life’s challenges. 👍
