Chil Seong tells Maeng Dal to leave. Seol Ja tells Seo Poong that Chil Seong asked her to take care of Sae Woo while she worked with Seo Poong. She wonders if Chil Seong is a good man.

Sae Woo says the money consoled her. Chil Seong says he is a good man. Sae Woo agrees. She says his kiss confused her because she couldn’t tell if she liked it or not. She orders him to stop getting hurt. Chil Seong suggests they try again. Sae Woo says it won’t change things. Chil Seong says she only knows his veneer. Sae Woo feels bad. Wok of Love Episode 18
Thrilled that Sae Woo is single, Seo Poong goes to the rooftop and shout his pleasure. Chil Seong’s men look at him like he’s nuts.
Sae Woo waits in the kitchen.

Seo Poong says Chil Seong should have warmed Sae Woo in the refrigerator. Sae Woo comes out and declares she’s going to get ice cream to soothe herself.
Sae Woo eats the ice cream. Seo Poong joins her. He pushes her to share. She refuses. He stares at her through the window. He smiles and returns to the eatery.
Seol Ja declares they must devise signals in case they tip off Seo Poong about their real relationship with each other.
Buster the horse misses Sae Woo.
Seo Poong goes to the hotel. He searches for his recipe book. He sees the prepared shrimp. Chief Wang interrupts his search forcing Seo Poong to hide.
Sam Sung and Bo Ra go to the eatery. They search the kitchen to find out how Seo Poong came up with the duplicate menu. Bo Ra finds the egg water for the wonton. Sam Sung taste the batter. Wanting ice, Chil Seong goes downstairs and spots the two intruders. He recalls Seol Ja declaring Seo Poong’s recipe book was his life’s work.
Seo Poong resumes his search of the kitchen.
Sam Sung can’t believe Seo Poong’s paper-thin wonton doesn’t rip.
Seol Ja enters the eatery. Chil Seong motions her to be quiet. Bo Ra and Sam Sung leave with a wonton. Chil Seong and Seol Ja follow.
Seo Poong searches the locker room. Sam Sung’s locker has nothing. Bo Ra’s locker has a photocopy of his recipe book.
Sam Sung and Bo Ra walk quickly. Chil Seong follows though it hurts him. The old woman (Lee Mi Sook) wonders why Chil Seong is moving too quickly. She follows. Sam Sung, Bo Ra, Chil Seong then the old woman enters the hotel.
Chief Wang finds Seo Poong. He snatches the photocopied recipe book. Chief Wang declares anything Seo Poong did while working for the hotel belongs to the hotel. Seo Poong declares the shrimp menu is his. Chief Wang declares the shrimp menu is his. Chief Wang burns the photocopied recipe book. Seo Poong is horrified.
Sam Sun and Bo Ra use Seo Poong’s recipe book. Chil Seong takes it and disarms Sam Sung with ease. CEO Yong Seung Ryong (Kim Sa Kwon) sees Chil Seong on the security monitors and calls his security team to dispatch Chil Seong. They charge Chil Seong. The old woman pulls him the elevator but some of the security men enter and beat Chil Seong. He protects the old woman and takes the beating.
Seo Poong wants to hit Chief Wang but doesn’t. He runs his finger through the ashes of his recipe book.
The old woman and Chil Seong struggle to leave the hotel. Chil Seong picks her up and puts her in the car Seol Ja drives. They start to leave but return to snatch Seo Poong’s recipe book. Seol Ja smiles her pleasure.
Seo Poong leaves the hotel. Seol Ja calls him that Chil Seong is in the emergency room. Sae Woo is there. In fact, everyone is there. Seo Poong yells at Chil Seong for being there. Chil Seong returns Seo Poong’s recipe book. Seo Poong can’t believe it. Chil Seong tells him to cheer up. The old woman declares they almost died getting the book. Seo Poong thanks Chil Seong. Seol Ja claps in pleasure.
At the eatery, Seo Poong looks through his recipe book. Sae Woo watches him. She goes to the kitchen. She decides to make eggs in the wok. Seo Poong finds her. He teaches her with a lighter wok. She gets the motion. She successfully turns the rice in rhythm. She’s thrilled. She asks him to be her ladle and cook with her. They banter and decide on a dish. Sae Woo orders Seo Poong to put the ingredient in her wok. She orders his ladle. She even razes him. She declares they are a team. She loves the experience. Seo Poong wants to take over, she grudgingly lets him.
Sae Woo declares the food yummy. Seo Poong asks when she got her divorce. Seo Poong tells him when. Seo Poong admits he likes her but likes Chil Seong too. He declares he won’t hurt Chil Seong. He tells Sae Woo not to like him. She’s surprised but agrees.
A fluffy episode. The retrieval of Seo Poong’s recipe book by Chil Seong caused Seo Poong to push Sae Woo away. Chil Seong risked himself to get the recipe book from the hotel. The old woman couldn’t believe it when Chil Seong back tracked to pick up the recipe book he’d dropped getting into the getaway car. The old woman must be his mother or some relation, she frets over him. But back to Seo Poong and Sae Woo. They were on the cusp of breaking through to romance but Seo Poong’s guilt about hurting Chil Seong, who he considers a friend, had put the kibosh on moving forward. Sae Woo took it well.
Chef Seo Poong (Lee Joon Ho) was reunited with his recipe book. Chief Wang’s declaration that anything done during Seo Poong’s service at the hotel rankled me. Dude, have you ever heard of personal time? When Chief Wang burned the photocopied recipe book, Seo Poong just about lost it. I don’t blame him. Chief Wang’s callous disregard was insensitive. But Seo Poong kept his composure and left knowing he’d never see the recipe book again. Chil Seong’s return of the recipe book was like manna from heaven. Seo Poong was thrilled but knew he owed Chil Seong a debt of gratitude. He paid the debt by not pursuing a romance with Sae Woo after admitting he liked her. What must happen for Seo Poong to be willing to pursue Sae Woo?
Dan Sae Woo (Jung Ryeo Won) got to boss Seo Poong around. The segment where they cooked together with Sae Woo in the power position of controlling the wok and Seo Poong in the subservient position of controlling the laden was tons of fun to watch. Sae Woo mimicked Seo Poong perfectly (even though her voice tone and volume were gentler than Seo Poong’s). I like Sae Woo but she seemed like ball two boys passed between them this episode. When will she declare what she wants?
Doo Chil Seong (Jang Hyuk) wanted to try again with Sae Woo. Chil Seong correctly stated that Sae Woo doesn’t know the real him, only his persona. Sae Woo statement that she’d rejected him twice was ignored. Chil Seong was sure if Sae Woo would give him a chance to show who he really was, she’d might change her feelings. Is that wishful thinking on Chil Seong’s part? Is he turning a blind eye to Seo Poong and Sae Woo? Chil Seong’s bravery to get the recipe book and take the beating by CY’s men was impressive although unrealistic too. But this is the kind of drama were your brain isn’t heavily engaged. Just go with it.
I rank these episodes (on a scale from 1-10) as very good. My episode ranking chart is below.
