Suspicious Partner Episode 27 Recap

Suspicious Partner Episode 27 “The Memory of that Day” (Part 1) Recap

Hyun Soo makes his getaway on his bike. No Ji Wook (Ji Chang Wook) pulls behind him as part of the chase. A car T bones Hyun Soo. He flips over the car. Cha Yoo Jung (Nara) and Ji Wook watch Hyun Soo be loaded into an ambulance.

As Ji Wook drives Yoo Jung he asks who tipped her off about the evidence. She says it was anonymous. Ji Wook can’t believe she acted on an animus tip. She snipes that she did and she put her career on the line too. Ji Wook gets a call that forestalls further discussion.

Lawyer Ji Eun Hyuk (Choi Tae Joon) and Eun Bong Hee (Nam Ji Hyun) are probing Lawyer Byeon Young Hee (Lee Deok Hwa) for details when Ji Wook rushes into the hospital room and to Assistant Jang (Jang Hyuk Jin)’s bedside. He’s disappointed to find that Assistant Jang isn’t moving. Lawyer Byeon assures them his hand moved. Of course, it moves when only Lawyer Byeon is looking. He tells them to wait. They tell him to sleep.

Ji Wook wonders if Lawyer Ji took the knife. He warns him it better not be him. They joke a bit. As Ji Wook starts to mention Hyun Soo, Assistant Jang tries to talk. They rush to his side. He recognizes everyone. They are thrilled to see their co-worker awake. Ji Wook grasps his hand and the relief pours out of him. He cries and rebukes his friend for scaring him.

Yoo Jung’s boss isn’t happy to hear the news reports about Hyun Soo’s accident.

Lawyer Ji listens to the news report and shakes his head.

Ji Wook, Bong Hee, and Lawyer Ji visit the unconscious Hyun Soo in the hospital. They have wait until he wakes. Yoo Jung joins them saying the hit-and-run driver escaped. She tells them her job is in peril. She asks if she can join their firm. Silence is her response.

Lawyer Ji and Ji Wook give Yoo Jung the list Assistant Jang was tracking down. They believe the hit and run drive is someone on the list. They explain the list has those Hyun Soo wanted revenge against, but may have taken matters into their own hands and acted first.

Bong Hee stares at Hyun Soo and tells him she wanted him to fairly prosecuted and convicted. Ji Wook assures her it will happen.

It bugs me that everyone speaks freely about Hyun Soo’s bed. He can hear them.

Assistant Jang says while he knows it was Hyun Soo he did not get visual confirmation due to the darkness and the mask Hyun Soo wore. Ji Wook urges his to get well. Assistant Jang grouses he can’t get well when the firm has taken residence in his office. He works to get better and finally he can leave the hospital. They all agree they are ready to the leave the hospital.

Yoo Jung and Na Ji Hae (Kim Ye Won) watch the news reports about their stalled investigation. Ji Hae wishes Yoo Jung hadn’t but her license on the line. District Attorney Jang is not happy with the situation. He tells the press they will look into discipline when it is warranted.

As they visit Hyun Soo, Yoo Jung tells District Attorney Jang that Hyun Soo is the murderer for all the murders, including his son. District Attorney Jang snaps at her to be quiet. He hits her boss. He warns her any future embarrassments will be cause for dismissal.

Bong Hee and Ji Wook are all smiles when they arrive home. They realize they are alone. There is tension between them. They lay in their beds unable to sleep. They decide to take action. Bong Hee suggests beer and dodges his hug. They drink companionably. Bong Hee calls him honey and they chuckle. The conversation turns work. The hit and run driver is still at large.

Bong Hee yawns and falls asleep on Ji Wook’s lap. He sweetly strokes her hair. He sweetly cuddles her as they sleep together.

Nice!

It’s a party when Assistant Jang returns to work. At the morning meeting Assistant Jang shares he had interesting dreams. He recalls Lawyer Byeon promising his fortune if he’d wake. Lawyer Byeon denies. Then he remembers Bong Hee pledge to do chores for him. Then he remembers Lawyer Ji’s pledge to hire extra help for Assistant Jang.

Ji Wook tries to figure out who took the knife from his drawer. When Bong Hee asks what he’s wondering, he doesn’t share the truth. He does wonder if Lawyer Byeon might have planted the knife. He recalls confessing to Assistant Jang that he wouldn’t use the fabricated evidence. Lawyer Byeon did overhear the confession.

Now we see that Lawyer Byeon took the knife from Ji Wook’s desk and planted it in Hyun Soo’s apartment. We see Lawyer Byeon tell Hyun Soo that sometimes brute force is required to get justice.

My Thoughts

Hyun Soo is unconscious and still causing trouble. The prosecution is under scrutiny. District Attorney Jang has anger issues. Yoo Jung is in a bad position. Then there was the who planted the knife question. It was revealed that Lawyer Byeon planted the knife. He’s lived long enough to know that playing by the rules doesn’t always yield justice. While I didn’t want Ji Wook, Bong Hee, or Assistant Jang to plant the knife, I’m more ambivalent about Lawyer Byeon having done the deed.

Eun Bong Hee (Nam Ji Hyun) called Ji Wook honey in a stereotypical way and got him to laugh. Her smile, his smile, I love watching them interact. They are cute.

No Ji Wook (Ji Chang Wook) wondered who planted the fabricated evidence. He didn’t want to believe it was Bong Hee or Lawyer Ji. At the end of the episode he realized that Lawyer Byeon might have heard his confession to Assistant Jang about the knife. The cute scene between JI WOOK and Bong Hee ended in a sweet cuddle on the flat couch which conveniently doubled as a bed. I like that our couple snuggled and slept together first.

Nasty Weasel Prosecutor slapping his underling: you just know he wanted to slap cheater girl but slapped her boss instead. This makes me wonder what are the assault laws in S.K. Beside NWP choking Bong hee, we see bosses all the time kicking their underlings in the shins and rich women going around slapping poor girls all the time. Even the whole throw a glad of water thing on the unwanted potential daughter-in-law. I’d just live to know.

You guys, I was just looking at ep 3 of Warrior Baek Dong Soo and this fresh round-faced youngin’ looked so familiar and I realized she’s the actress that is playing Bong hee. But she was in the childhood episodes of WBSDS and JCW was in the adult episodes so they never acted together. (That reminded me that I did read that somewhere, either from kjt or elsewhere.) But I was shocked that she played the teen version of a character while JCW couldn’t pass as the teen for his character. Then I checked her birth date and she was born in 1995! I’m shocked because I thought she was a noona to JCW!

    • Eagle eye, Beez, you’ve got an eagle eye! I added the child/adult pic in your comment.

      • Beez says:

Thanks, kjt. Are you as surprised as I am at how young she is in real life?

Ha‼. I pegged Rep Byeon as the planter 🌱 of evidence 🔪‼. Even though I didn’t think he knew about the 🔪, the pant legs, shoes 👞 and the way he moved seemed like an older gentleman. I really hope the false evidence 🔪 does not end 🆙 setting murderer Hyun Soo free. Last episode they showed the face of the hit and run driver 🚘, who seemed to be Hyun Soo’s former schoolmate 🏫. Was it an accident or deliberate⁉

The lawyers at Ji Wook’s 💼 firm need to be careful about what they say around the unconscious Hyun Soo; we KNOW the unconscious Chief Bang heard 👂 and remembered what was said to him. Will amnesia now come into play for Hyun Soo⁉

I enjoyed the tender moments between Bong Hee and Ji Wook, they are continuing to build their 💗 relationship⁉

I knew Nam Ji Hyun was young, but I had forgotten that she was playing teenagers until recently. I recognized her from “Shopping King Louie”. Thanks for pointing out her prior work Beez.

      • Beez says:

Haha! I knew it was an old man too cause of the too long pants but I never dreamed it was Atty. Byeon. I had thought maybe it was Deranged Prosecutor up to his old trucks to get Ji Wook into trouble.

Did they ever explain why Ji Wook never brought charges against Deranged Prosecutor for planting evidence in Bong hee’s case?

      • That was not explained.

      • The lawyers at Ji Wook’s 💼 firm need to be careful about what they say around the unconscious Hyun Soo; we KNOW the unconscious Chief Bang heard 👂 and remembered what was said to him. Will amnesia now come into play for Hyun Soo⁉
Ditto. That was frustrating to watch.

Look at this cute l’il face. image link

And here are both in character image link

    • Beez says:

As long as kjt is letting me post images from WBDS, I may as well post the heart stopping ones: image

Oh. Only one. I just realized the second picture is from the same time period when JCW was making WBDS but I can’t justify posting it as it’s more of a sweaty-innocent-farm-boy-next-door pic but not WBDS. You get a glimpse of his look in the one link I posted.

      *evil smutty grin*
