Favorite Scene – Another Miss Oh – First Hug

If I’ve got only a moment there are certain scenes I watch for a quick hit of kdrama goodness.

Today’s Favorite Scene is the first hug from the series Another Miss Oh episode 4.  The potential magic of this couple was revealed in this scene.

The setup – Walking home our leading lady Oh Hae Young (Seo Hyun Jin) meets our leading man’s best friend Jin Sang (Kim Ji Suk) and sister sister Park Soo Kyung (Ye Ji Won). They observe our leading man’s brother Hoon and his girl friend do a “jump hug” thrilled to see each other. Hae Young wishes she had a man she could do that with. Soo Kyun taunts Hae Young that she will never have a man to embrace like that. Soo Kyun dares Hae Young to throw herself into someone’s arms for a “jump hug”.

Hae Young takes the dare to do a “jump hug”….

Hae Young sees our leading man Park Do Kyung (Eric) drive up in his car. You know what she’s going to do. She watches him get out of his car. She takes off her purse. She gets a running start. She runs towards Do Kyung. He stops and sees her.

Ready…set…go…she runs full tilt at him. He stares. Here she comes, my goodness, she’s got a head of steam.

Do Kyung stares. His premonition of this hug is becoming reality. He knew she was going to embrace him after running towards him. She’s got a great smile on her face.

Do Kyung wonders, what if I don’t hold on to her? Can I eradicate her from my life?

Hae Young makes the jump. Everyone stares as she goes up into the air. It’s farcical, the production of this moment (but in a good way).

As Hae Young comes down from the high heavens, Do Kyung decides to hug her. He drops his briefcase and embraces her. I love it when he thinks that Hae Young is “unraveling him” and that she wants him to “stop being miserable” and “be happy with her”.

Wait a minute….Her eyes widen in surprise at the jolt the physical contact from the hug gives her. His eyes widen in surprise at the jolt the physical contact from the hug gives him. Wow! Instant chemistry. They’re both surprised when they feel it…I like it!

Since Do Kyung had a premonition of this hugging event, he knew exactly what was going to happen as our Hae Young ran towards him; you could tell he had reservations as to whether or not he was going to embrace our Hae Young…I was pleased that he enfolded her in the embrace. I recall this was the first time they made a physical connection. Their body language and facial expressions were a reflection of their mutual attraction! ❤

For those of you who haven’t seen this drama you need to watch first bit of episode 5 to catch the wardrobe malfunction the running hug caused. This was one of MANY embarrassments for our Hae Young, but it got the dour-faced Do Kyung laughing for the first time in this drama—like most people, Do Kyung (Eric) looks even more handsome with a smile on his face! 💋
