EPISODE 6: “Me, abandoned all alone at the edge of the world”
This show does little things well… The visual transition of a flashback of the adult character crossing a threshold then he is the unwanted child his uncle dumped at the amusement park. Soo Ha telling her that she different versus wrong from mean girl prosecutor, a subtle but significant difference between the battling lady lawyers. Mom making the murderer seaweed soup for his birthday. He was surprised and touched by her kindness. Lawyer Cha telling the boss that her method for revealing the twins guilt was different versus wrong, the same observation Soo Ha made earlier. Well done writer. Both men in her life accept her as is, a gift indeed.
Too cute when she asks lawyer Cha to see a movie with her. She immediately clarifies that it is NOT a date. She further tells him to lose the glasses, change his hair, and not wear white socks with black shoes. He protests that this is his style. Regardless he switches it up and she is impressed with his improved look. The date is aborted when the police call her concerned that Soo Ha took a gun. She grabs a cab and heads home finding Soo Ha just coming out of the bath. She covers when the police come knocking and they tell her the gun has been found. Relieved she counsels Soo Ha not to wreck his future with murder. He appreciates that she cares but is noncommittal.
The show cleverly ends with Soo Ha and our murderer considering stopping their revenge plots but both decide to go forward with their plans. Soo Ha is revealed to have a switchblade and the murderer literally flushes the birthday meal her mother gave to him. Bravo to the writer and the director for this parallel scene between two adversaries that leaves you chilled for what happens next.
